My contribution has been understanding the role that policy can play on AI within developing countries. I have worked with our Human and Social Science Research Council on a national South African policy guide. I have done further work with Peo Ya Phetogo, a non profit organization focused on training girls and boys in schools on digital and data literacies. My research work in the EQUALS research group has also been in understanding the role of training in higher education in enabling the increase of women participating in the computing fields.
My research can be used to improve policy development in considering how technology is co-designed, developed and used to enhance development in sectors such as Education, Health and Governance. The research further seeks to understand the impact of digital technologies in under-resourced environments.
