We are delighted to share that Alliance Advisory Board member Professor Nisheeth Vishnoi, Yale University has been named a fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society, selected for his “contributions to theoretical computer science and its connections with mathematics, sciences, and social sciences.” ACM recently named 58 new fellows, drawing from an elite group of computer scientists at universities, companies, and research centers around the world.
At Yale, Professor has co-founded the [https://computationsociety.yale.edu/ Computation and Society Initiative] which is a creative space where scientists from different disciplines work together to address the emerging questions that arise as algorithm and data-driven technologies permeate and alter various aspects of modern society. Professor Vishnoi’s research looks at how theoretical computer science can help understand and address some of the key questions that arise in nature and society. Professor Vishnoi’s current focus is on natural algorithms, the emergence of intelligence, and foundational questions in algorithmic fairness. We are thrilled to have Professor Vishnoi as a core member of our Alliance Board supporting research and action to correct gender bias in ADM – we need to drive change by effecting individual and institutional transformation.
