Supporting women in the sciences, encouraging young girls to realize their potential in the STEM fields, particularly in AI, and helping them gain influence in technology, and self-sustainability.
Ph.D. researcher specializing in AI and currently serving as the Liaison Manager at the Anglophone AI4D Lab. Our primary project involves conducting research and capacity building to address systemic gender stereotypes and biases within AI, with a particular focus on fostering inclusivity and equity within Tanzania’s AI ecosystems. We developed a “Gender in AI” curriculum tailored for STEM secondary teachers in Tanzania and conducted teachers’ training.
This curriculum is designed to provide STEM secondary teachers with foundational AI knowledge and gender-sensitive pedagogical skills, empowering them to create an educational environment that champions inclusivity and diversity, especially in STEM disciplines. The ultimate goal of our initiative is to identify and dismantle the systemic barriers that impede women’s participation in the AI field from as early as secondary education in Tanzania.
