Fernanda Bruno

I do research and teach on technopolitics, surveillance, subjectivity and deloconial perspectives.

About the work

I am an associate professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, co-founder of the Latin American Network of Surveillance, Technology, and Society Studies/LAVITS, and director of MediaLab.UFRJ.

Impact

The impact of my work is mainly in the field of education and training people to research and act critically at the intersection between technology and society, particularly in Latin America. Another field of impact is the promotion of public debate about the effects of technologies on society, politics, and subjectivities, with a focus on the reinscription of colonial structures on inequalities of gender, class, and race.
