Digicivic Initiative is an organization committed to upholding human rights through a free, safe, and open internet. Digicivic Initiative expands the frontiers of digital rights and civic participation in Africa by organizing public interest actions, strategic litigation, training, and advocacy. Our primary impact is providing legal defense and support for citizens, journalists, and activists facing digital rights abuses such as privacy violations, data protection issues, freedom of expression restrictions, and cyber harassment.
Digicivic Initiative is developing a responsible AI-powered solution, ÀDÀBÀ AI (The Digital Rights Assistant), as part of the Gender & AI Innovation Collective at A+ Alliance.
This open-source innovative AI solution is designed to tackle the overwhelming scale and complexity of Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV), which disproportionately targets women and gender-diverse people across the continent in the digital space. ÀDÀBÀ AI is utilizing the Collective’s Feminist AI Sandbox to create a secure, rights-focused tool that automates the crucial, time-consuming process of legal evidence preservation and case triage for survivors, enabling us to transition from reactive litigation to a rapid-response digital justice mechanism.
