SUMMARY:Open Studio: Understanding Stakeholder Involvement for Responsible AI Development in Practice | Emma Kallina
DESCRIPTION:How can we better involve affected communities in the development process of AI systems – and what are blockers to this in practice? In this Open-Studio Session\, Emma will provide an overview over her PhD research\, including (1) why we have to involve affected communities during the development of AI systems\, (2) the differences between such stakeholder involvement for responsible AI efforts vs the type of stakeholder involvement currently happening in practice\, (3) the steps required for stakeholder involvement ensuring more responsible systems\, as well as (4) contexts with potential exceptions to such rules. \n  \nAbout Emma Kallina:  Emma Kallina believes that the people impacted by a technology should have substantial influence during the development of such technology. To push this forward\, her research (third-year PhD student at the University of Cambridge) focuses on how the involvement of affected communities during the development of AI systems can support the development of more responsible systems in practice. Her background is in Psychology\, Human-Computer Interaction\, and UX Research. She is a visiting researcher / fellow at the Institute for Technology & Humanity and the Alan Turing Institute. \n  \nJoin the Open Studio by joining the AI Equality Community on Circle!
