Women at the Table a growing, global Civil Society Organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. It is the first organization to advance feminist systems change by using the prism of technology, innovation & AI to identify then leverage structural points for change in technology, sustainability, the economy, and democratic governance. Women at the Table’s take on the Smart Feminist City 3.0, and its subsequent Declaration on Affirmative Action for Algorithms at Women in Data Science, Zürich in 2019 led to the formation of the A+ Alliance, our international coalition that seeks to not only detect but to correct gender, racial and intersectional bias in Artificial Intelligence. Women at the Table co-founded the International Gender Champions in 2015, a leadership network of decision-makers who break down gender barriers for system change. The <A+> Alliance was co-founded by Women at the Table and Ciudadanía Inteligente. The work of Ciudadanía Inteligente was fundamental to create this Alliance.
Laboratorio Experimental (LabExp) is a research and extension group, located in the Centro Académico de Alajuela of Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica. LabExp promotes the exchange and construction of knowledge between Public University and its social, economic and cultural surroundings. LabExp work is based on two objectives: the first is to develop and implement computing technology to contribute to the solution of problems of the local reality; the second is to promote participation of students from Computing Engineering in the processes developed with the aim of contributing to their comprehensive formation. The proposed solutions to the problems must be transversalized by three elements that are considered essential from the LabExp perspective: free software, open data, and active participation of the community.
