Advocacy efforts to promote digital equality in access to and use of the Web.
A researcher, policy analyst and advocacy strategist interested in and working on understanding the unfolding impacts of ICT adoption, and how they impact governance, innovation, entrepreneurship and societal culture, with a keen focus on gender implications. Member of the UN Secretary General’s High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation and DFID’s Digital Advisory Panel. Board Member at IRIN News, UK Citizens Online Democracy (mySociety) and Digitally Responsible Aid. Deputy on the United Nations High Level Panel for Women’s Economic Empowerment (2016-17). Previously worked at the iHub in Nairobi, where I provided strategic guidance for the growth of technology innovation research in East Africa.
As digital technologies continue to take over every aspect of our lives, inequality trends offline are too often being mirrored online. I aim to tackle this issue by shaping global governance and establishing baselines for digital equality.
