Data, emerging technologies and gender.
Several of ILDA’s projects are related to a feminist approach to data as well as emerging technologies in Latin America. Some examples are the Standard of Data on Femicide as well as the new initiative, “Empatia”. Gender-based violence is one of the most serious problems globally and, in particular, in Latam. Since 2017, ILDA has been exploring how data on femicide can be produced in a more uniform and standardized way, thus helping authorities develop more informed public policies that protect women. ILDA is also working more directly on AI with a new initiative called “Empatia”. ILDA and the Latam Digital Center, with the support of IDRC and IADB, have started a collaborative project that seeks to understand and develop new knowledge on the use of AI to solve public problems.
To better understand how the production and use of data as well as emerging technologies can contribute to addressing historical imbalances and support inclusion in Latin America.
