Focused on the intersection of gender, technology and policy through a feminist lens.
My work focuses on ensuring digital rights. At the Web Foundation, I am contributing to the policy advocacy work on gender and data rights, specifically developing future research agendas. My Mozilla fellowship seeks to understand the adequacy of data protection and privacy laws from a feminist data justice perspective .I am specifically focusing on South Africa given its focus on the Fourth Industrial Revolution and its already existing regulations on privacy and data protection.
The impact of this work is two fold. Within the methodology community, it contributes to feminist approaches to framing data protection and privacy issues. It provides policy recommendations located within Africa on ensuring data justice as AI developments take place.
